Thank you for taking the time to investigate a little more about Amy and myself! My name is Amber Whelsky and I am currently a 3rd year PhD candidate at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. My work centers around studying certain phenomena in the Polar Regions (crazy cool!) but what you mainly need to know is that I am enthusastic, dedicated, and overall greatful to be getting the chance to riase money for a wonderful organization in memory of a wonderful man.

Let me just tell you just how wonderful...

My dad was happy. He told me many times how, at his age, he could look back at his life and smile. He had no regrets and I promise you, he was truly content. He was a positive man who chose to see this world with the glass half full, and even in the hardest of times this positive outlook never faltered. He is my inspiration to always push through life's obsticales. Even though losing him was by far the hardest thing I have had to endure in my life so far, I refuse to not appreciate all the good that he helped show me, to be thankful for having had such great role model whom I strive to be like in so many ways, to have family and friends who provide endless laughs, loves and support, and to be able to take opportunities in life when presented the chance. I am a lucky girl and I hope you will help me achieve a small goal of mine. I am training to run the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, VT. I am running for my father Skip and am raising money in his name for Parkinson's Research.

I'm running in honor of my daughter, Nola Elizabeth. Last year, due to undetectable complications, Nola was transferred to CHaD's neonatal intensive care unit. Their outstanding staff gave her the best care in the world during her sweet, brief life. Children and families with similar life challenges deserve the kind of care that Nola received. Our family is eternally grateful to the people of CHaD. That’s why we ran the CHaD HERO half marathon in 2015, and will continue to run and support this amazing event until we can’t run anymore. We’re asking our community to be HEROs, to support CHaD kids – because they’re ALL our kids -  and they deserve the best care imaginable.
